SME Policy Index for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2026

The National Business Center (NBC) participated in the introductory meeting for Albanian institutions of the methodology of the “SME Policy Index for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2026”, organized by the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation (MEKI), under the leadership of Deputy Minister Sokol Duma.
The meeting focused on support policies for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), with the aim of assessing progress in different dimensions of policies that help their development. The report, produced by the OECD, will analyze the progress of Albania and the Western Balkan countries, adapting to the standards of the European Union.



This report is an important instrument in the process of assessing the economic conditions that support the activity of small and medium-sized businesses and is in line with the standards and requirements of the European Union. In this context, the NCC is a contributing institution in two main dimensions of SME policy development, Dimension 2: Bankruptcy and new opportunities for SMEs and Dimension 4: Business environment.
This report will provide recommendations for improving policies and supporting the development of SMEs, with the aim of increasing competitiveness and integrating Albania into the EU.
